Recorded from Northland to Fiordland and the Chatham Is. (Ref. 9003). Also reported from Stewart Island (Ref. 45524). Common in some areas on the western coasts, but not recorded on the eastern coasts of both North and South Is. South of East Cape. Probably spawns from midwinter to late spring (Ref. 9003). Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ (Ref. 5755). |
